"From this remarkable site we spent a lot of time just watching the whales jump. Thank goodness for washing machines. We got incredibility muddy from some of the best hiking we’ve ever done. Waking up to the beautiful sunrise behind the Lighthouse was perfect."

Whale breaching off Kaweonui Point: Shores off Kaweonui Point are a National Whale Sanctuary. From November-May each year Humpback whales travel 3,100 miles to mate and calve in these warm Hawaiian waters.

Waves on North Shore: The incredible beauty and awesome power of Kauai North Shore waves make it a playground for water sports such as surfing, boogey boarding and windsurfing.

Laysan Albatross: Nesting on Kaweonui Point since the early 80’s, Albatross arrive in November to mate and nest. Chicks reach adulthood in about 10 months flying off by September, for a life at sea.

Waimea Canyon: Referred to as the" Grand Canyon of the Pacific" by Mark Twain, Waimea canyon, a gorge running East to West for 10 miles, is 1 mile wide and more than 3600 feet deep.

Hanalei Bay Sunset: Hanalei Bay, a two mile long half-moon of sandy beach with a back drop of lush tropical mountains is a Mecca at days end for watching unbelievably gorgeous sunsets.

Na Pali Beach: The Na Pali State Park, accessible on foot from the North Shore via the 11-mile ancient Hawaiian Kalalau Trail, has many beaches tucked into its craggy shores. Some are reachable by boat.

Breadfruit (Ulu): The British Empire thought Breadfruit would be a perfect food for West Indies slaves so it sent Captain Bligh on the HMS Bounty to Tahiti to accomplish that goal. Though mutiny on the ill-fated Bounty made Breadfruit a famous food, the versatile Breadfruit tree is also used to make surfboards, hula drums and poi boards.
